Solid State Logic Shoot Snapshot

Shiny, black,  large products are a worthy challenge.  Solid State Logic of the United KIngdom contracted us via our website us to photograph their brand new mobile soundboard demo truck,  constructed in San Antonio, inside and out.  Vehicle Photography is not a request Austin Product Photographers get every day. We enjoyed the opportunity to use all  100′ feet of the cyclorama in the  lighting of this Beautiful Beast.

Ever Seen an Iphone Swim? part 2

The Plunge

Calls came in while it was underwater and it could be heard ringing. Let’s try Face Time under water. Glub, glub.

Ever Seen an iPhone Swim? part 1

We Have. It Did.

At times commercial photography shoots are straight forward. Place the product on a table, light it, make some adjustments and shoot it. Occasionally someone like John Willenborg shows up with something more fun to do. John’s Austin, Texas based  company, Optrix, has created an iPhone case that is water resistant and he wanted  to show that it’s ok if the case gets wet.  He wanted to photograph it IN water.  Having murdered my iPhone in a pool this summer, I was very interested to see what would happen. We suspended the iPhone in a glass block vase with fishing line from a Magic Arm so that we could adjust it’s plunging level.   Carbonated water, made instantly with our Soda Stream provided the bubbles.  This iPhone, and it was John’s personal iphone, spent a considerable amount of time in the water and came out of the case completely dry at the end of the shoot. I’m sold.

Barrio Mailbox  #blue

One brilliantly colored and weathered mailbox led to a search for more and a series which blurs the line between product photography and art. It’s interesting  to think of all the messages that have come and gone from this old box.

Maxwell Wheel Alignment Tucson, Arizona

David purchased a new Fuji X100 right before our location photography shoot for IBM in Tucson.

It reminds him of the street photography he used to do with his old Leica M3.

The Angelic Assassin

The Angelic Assassin

The Angelic Assassin was David Stence’s  nickname at Total Camera, the camera store where he worked in the early 1980′s in Austin, Texas, before becoming a freelance commercial photographer. With his blue eyes and white blonde hair, he sold people what they needed, not necessarily what they thought they wanted.
